The men’s soccer team at our college has burst onto the scene this season with an exhilarating five-game winning streak, setting the stage for what promises to be a memorable campaign. In their latest showdown against Rogue, they triumphed with a convincing 2-0 victory, keeping their record unblemished and sparking excitement among fans for what lies ahead.
Key players have been pivotal in driving the team’s success. The unyielding presence of goalkeepers Mason Averill and Nicolas Cardenas between the posts have resulted in a series of clean sheets, earning them praise from teammates and supporters alike.
On the attacking front, Dugsiye Ahmed has emerged as a true game-changer, dazzling spectators with two spectacular goals in the last match. Mason Abdella showcased his finesse by contributing a crucial assist, reinforcing his role as a playmaking force for the team.

“The team is firing on all cylinders. The camaraderie within the squad is palpable, and it’s contributing to our success,” said Midfielder Zaith Mavesere, in an exclusive interview.
Mavesere also offered valuable insights into the team’s aspirations and performance this season, “Right from the start of our preseason camp, we’ve had high expectations, and every player is fully committed to achieving our goals. There’s an aura of confidence, and we firmly believe we’re poised for a remarkable season.”
Mavesere’s journey to the team is a unique tale of determination. He explained, “My recruitment process differed from many of my teammates. I transferred from a different college and decided to attend the spring quarter training sessions as an informal trial to test my mettle for the upcoming fall season. Fortunately, I earned my place on the team, and I’m proud to represent our college.”

With an unbeaten record under their belt, the team’s objectives remain crystal clear. Their focus is unwavering, centering on controlling the aspects of the game they can influence and dominating their opponents. The ultimate aim is to clinch the conference title and secure the championship trophy, a mission they are tackling with unwavering determination.
The upcoming match against Pierce College (slated for September 27 at 2 p.m.) is eagerly anticipated as another opportunity for the team to display their skills and extend their impressive winning streak.
