Highline scholarship deadline approaches

The deadline to apply for next year’s Highline scholarships is May 8 at 11:59 p.m. 

Highline is offering more than 30 scholarships for the 2022-23 school year. 

“The number of scholarships offered and amounts change annually, this cycle, we have 32 different scholarships available, some of them offer multiple awards,” said Tanisha Williams, scholarships and alumni relations program specialist at Highline. 

The scholarships include: 

The American Association of University Women scholarship, which aims to help female students entering or re-entering college. The award requires a minimum 2.0 GPA. 

The Black and Brown Male Summit scholarship is in honor of the 10th anniversary of Highline’s Black and Brown Male Summit. This scholarship is for full-time students and with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The General Scholarship, for students who may not qualify for specific scholarships. Minimum GPA is 2.0. 

For students who are single mothers in need, the Yoshida Scholarship is offered at Highline. Minimum GPA is 2.0. 

Williams offered some advice for applicants. 

“I would advise students to make sure they are thorough and complete the application fully,” she said. “Our online application asks some general questions regarding the applicant, some academic history and academic planning information, and may include some scholarship specific short essay questions, students will be asked to upload their most recent transcripts as well.” 

Students only have to apply once via the Highline Foundation webpage, https://foundation.highline.edu/scholarships.php Their applications will be considered for all available scholarships. 

People eligible to apply include full time, part time, incoming, current, transfer, international, and undocumented students. Running Start students are eligible for scholarships for credits taken in the Summer Quarter or taken excess of 15 credits.
