Women’s tennis spanks Spokane; Bellevue up next

Staff Reporter Apr 07, 2022

The Highline women’s tennis team blanked Spokane over the break, and now head toward a rematch with arch-rival Bellevue on Friday.

Highline beat Spokane 8-0, winning every match without dropping a set. They are undefeated in NWAC play this season.

At No. 1 singles, Highline’s Celeste Parker beat Spokane’s Madison Forbes, 6-1, 6-1.

At No. 2, Selah Carlisle defeated Taylor Rising, 6-0, 6-0. Andrea Guiton won third singles over Sophie Greybill, 6-2, 6-1, and T-Bird Daniela Maqueda downed Spokane’s Jaycee Osborn, 6-4, 7-6.

Highline’s Princess Ventura and Mia Rosa both won by default.

The results were much the same for the doubles matches. Rosa and Guiton beat Forbes-Rising, 8-0. Venture and Parker defeated Greybill-Osborn, 8-0, and Carlisle-Maqueda won by default.

An earlier match against the University of Puget Sound was postponed. UPS was on spring break and so the Lady Loggers couldn’t field a full team.

The Lady T-Birds are 4-3 on the season, with all of their losses coming against four-year programs. Highline will face Bellevue on Friday at Harbor Square Athletics Club in Edmonds at 8 p.m. Bellevue is 1-1 in NWAC play and 1-6 overall.
