The Lady T-Birds soccer team concluded their regular season with a record of 9-2-1, making this their eighth straight NWAC West division title.

“We knew how important it is to end the season first, we want what everyone wants. The home playoff game,” said forward Andrea Guiton.

The team took care of business in their last home game versus Lower Columbia on Wednesday, beating them 6-0.

For the second time in three games, Highline had at least five different players score a goal. Forward Franqie Moppins opened up the game with a goal in the 2nd minute. Forward Myka Carr put Highline up 2-0 with a goal in the 4th minute. Andrea Guiton scored a goal in the 14th minute, and Myka Carr scored her second goal in the 28th minute off a pass from forward Cynthia Roberts.

The last goals of the game were from midfielder Cassandra Decker who scored in the 39th minute, and midfielder Ashley Teofilo in the 45th minute, off a pass from midfielder Gizel Pene.

The Lady T-Birds struggled to get any goals past Bellevue goalie Celia La-Guardia, who had nine saves.

The only score of the game came from Bellevue forward Brianna Hugus, she scored in the 37th minute.

Highline will shift its focus towards the postseason, they have a first round bye to start the playoffs.

“Our focus going into the first round bye is to perfect our craft, because you only get one shot to do so in playoff ball,” said Andrea Guiton.

The men’s soccer team finished their regular season with two wins, ending at 8-5. They beat South Puget Sound 6-0 on Wednesday and Bellevue 3-0 on Saturday.

Against South Puget Sound, midfielder Marcos Santos scored a goal in the second minute, center back Kolton Lerwick put in a goal immediately after in the third minute. “Tacoma was able to keep it close due to the lack of communication that happened in the beginning of the game,” said right-side hitter Khadijah Morgan.

The team played at South Puget Sound on Wednesday, with results unavailable at press time.

The Lady T-Birds play 9-0 Pierce on Friday in the Pavilion.

“The Pierce game is beyond important, it is the game that will determine who the NWAC West champ will be,” said Khadijah.
