The local labor market continues to improve, but it’s still vulnerable to Covid-19.
According to the Washington State Employment Security Department’s King County labor area summary report from September 2021, the not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in King County for Sept. was 4.3 percent, down from 4.8 percent reported in August.
Twelve months ago, while still in the grasp of Covid-19’s impact, unemployment was 7.2 percent. Governor Jay Inslee appointed Travis Exstrom to the Highline College Board of Trustees last month. The board is the governing body of the college, with responsibility for naming a president when necessary and overseeing college policy.
Focus and determination are among keys to succeeding

Navigating college can be difficult, but manageable with the right approach, students say.
Data consistently shows the difficulty students face in obtaining their college degree. With the right advice however, students can successfully navigate the challenges and obtain their desired degree.
According to The Hechinger Report, a national nonprofit group that reports on education, fewer than one out of five students at community colleges obtain their desired degree in three years or less.

Highline’s new head of Student Services said she intends to put students first.
Dr. Jamilyn Penn was named interim vice president of Student Services earlier this fall. She previously served as director of transfer education in the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
Student Services oversees a number of functions at the college, including Advising, Admissions, Running Start, Women’s Programs, Funding Services, TRiO, International Student Programs, Athletics, the Center for Cultural and Inclusive Excellence and the Center for Leadership and Service.

Highline hopes to go study abroad in Vietnam in spring 2022.
Jenn Ritchey, the manager of Global Initiatives at Highline, and Sam Kaplan, director of the Center of Excellence for Global Trade and Supply Chain Management, hope to travel to Vietnam with students this spring if conditions permit, and, if possible, to also visit companies in Washington state.
The whole idea of the study abroad program is to follow the supply chain, so what they will be doing is following products that have some kind of connection with products that originated in Washington and also Vietnam.

Highline STEM students who want to learn more about physics are invited to get PHATT.
PHATT is an acronym for Physicists of Highline – Association of Thinkers & Tinkerers. Advised by Dr. Aleya Dhanji, the club aims to help students actively engage in the study of science in general and physics in particular.
Dr. Dhanji is a physics professor at Highline and teaches a variety of courses from conceptual physics for non-STEM majors to calculus-based engineering physics.

Central Washington University is bringing its bachelor’s degree program in computer science to Highline’s campus beginning next quarter.
The program has been co-developed by CWU and Highline. There will be a soft launch in Winter Quarter 2022 and a full launch in Fall Quarter 2022, CWU officials say.
Bruce Palmquist, Ph.D., interim chair of the Computer Science Department at CWU, said the program has been designed for students who are seeking careers in that field.

This week we’re going over probably the best Christmas film of them all, Die Hard and its first sequel Die Hard 2.
The first film, Die Hard (1988), was directed by John McTiernan, and based on the Roderick Thorp novel Nothing Lasts Forever.
This was a sequel to his previous book, The Detective. It also got adapted into a film by the same name, The Detective, in 1968 and starred Frank Sintara, but that film has nothing to do with the film Die Hard.
An interactive workshop with tips and strategies to make it through finals week and how to finish the end of the quarter strong will be open to students starting Dec. 4.

It may be several months before the latest damage to Highline’s Marine Science and Technology Center is repaired.
“We brought in some contractors yesterday [Monday] to get quotes,” said MaST Director Rus Higley. “Due to lag times on windows, they likely won’t be fixed for three to five months.”
Several windows were broken during the wind and rain storm on Nov. 15.

Highline’s annual Black and Brown Male Summit returns Dec. 11 to help young males of color recharge and reconnect.
The 12th annual event is for young people from ninth grade to college who identify as black and brown males, and who need to recharge or have questions around culture, connectivity, identity and community, organizers say.
Even though the event will be in person, there will still be COVID restrictions and regulations in place.

The Highline men’s basketball team won their first road game of the season 88-84 against Whatcom last Tuesday.
Guard Micah Jessie had it going early, scoring 18 of his 23 points on 7-10 shooting in the first half. Guard Kenny Curtis had 11 points and led the team with five assists in the first half. He finished the game leading Highline in all major categories with 26 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.
These efforts helped the T-Birds go into halftime with a 47-44 lead.

Highline has been able to tag a new softball coach, but the Athletic Department is still struggling to pin down a new wrestling coach.
Highline Athletic Director John Dunn has not released the name of the new softball coach, who will replace Jason Evans, who left the program after last year’s pandemic-shortened season.
Wrestling has been without a coach since Chad Beatty left the program in 2020. This year’s wrestling season has been cancelled as a result.

There are many classic films everyone thinks of, classics such as It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and Die Hard. Throughout the years however, new Christmas classics to watch with the whole family continue to show up under the tree.
The first film to go over is The Muppets Christmas Carol (1992), an adaptation of the Charles Dickens story of the same name. And is the directorial debut by Brian Henson, son of the late Jim Henson (creator of The Muppets).
A six-month long savings program has started and is available to Highline students who can earn money through their savings.
The Savings Match Program is an “online tool that encourages saving through cash incentives,” Ciara White, the Benefits Hub campus coordinator said.
The Benefits Hub was created by United Way of King County to support students with their financial challenges. Through the Benefits Hub, students can work with advisers for financial coaching, housing support, and other financial resources.

Many films have left their mark in the pop culture landscape, but very few have done so well to have a TV show continue their stories.
The first example, is a blockbuster of a film called Stargate (1994), directed by Roland Emmerich, most well known for directing Independence Day (1996) and the infamous American adaptation of Godzilla, Godzilla (1998).
A young crescent moon appears to wave toward Venus in the evening sky recently over Poverty Bay in Des Moines. Unfortunately, such glorious if chilly evenings will be replaced by rain through this weekend, with highs in the mid-50s.

The Highline women’s basketball team tipped off its season this past weekend at the Tacoma Classic Tournament, losing two games.
In the Lady T-Birds’ first game last Friday, they fell to Shoreline 66-52. Highline lost to Everett on Saturday, 56-45.
In the spring the team finished with a 5-3 record. Three games were cancelled due to a positive COVID test at the start of season and the NWAC called off the championships.

The Highline men’s basketball team opened its season with a 94-71 loss to Shoreline last Friday in the Pavilion.
The T-Birds trailed throughout the first half, going into the break down 41-29. The team made a push to start the second half, taking a one point lead with 14:49 in the second half, but ultimately it was not enough.
“We turned the ball over early and failed to execute some very basic nuances to our defensive scheme. That led to the early lead,” said Head Coach Che Dawson.

Highline offers a BAS in global trade and logistics for those interested in the industry of international trade.
According to the Observatory of Economic Complexity, Washington state exported $41.3 billion worth of goods in 2020, making it the ninth largest exporting state in the U.S. In the same year it imported $48.9 billion worth of goods, making it the 15 largest importing state in the U.S.
Top commodities traded include aircraft parts, medical instruments, automobiles, video game consoles, petroleum oils and distillates, and soybeans, wheat, and various other agriculture products.

The Highline men’s soccer team beat Whatcom 4-3 on Sunday to win the NWAC men’s soccer championship.
It was the team’s first title since 2017 and their fourth since 2004.
The women’s team lost in the semifinals on Friday, marking the first time since 2014 that the Lady T-Birds weren’t in the finals.

Plane, Trains, & Automobiles (1987) is well known for being “the only good Thanksgiving movie.” But that statement is selling the movie short. It’s not just, “the only good Thanksgiving movie” but also a good comedy with a lot of heart in it.
The film was written and directed by John Hughes also (known for writing the first two Home Alone movies, and writing and directing Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science.)

The Man with No Name trilogy is famous for popularizing spaghetti western films, but some aspects of the films have aged poorly.
The Man with No Name trilogy is a set of westerns directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood as a bounty hunter who’s name is never given (though he is given a nickname in each film).
Each film is very loosely connected, the only constant being the main character, the reusing of several actors in different roles, the same director, and all having excellent music by Ennio Morricone.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams won their first round matchups, while volleyball aims to bounce back in its regular season finale at home.
The women’s soccer team beat North Idaho at Starfire 1-0 on Saturday, to advance to the NWAC semifinals.
“We knew that if we wanted to move onto the final four, we were going to have to put everything we had into that game. Everyone was focused and ready to battle,” said midfielder Abby Carmel.

Highline students say having — and using — an adviser can help you get through college.
Although students have long been assigned to faculty advisers, the college is adopting an intentional new process, in which students will be assigned to an adviser and asked to meet with them once a quarter.
Students will still be allowed to choose their own adviser, but every student will get a faculty adviser either way.
Students who have met with their advisers say it has helped.
“I talked to an adviser to find out about what classes I need,” Sohani Choudhary said

Highline hopes a new advising model will help students get through college easier.
Highline will require all students to have a faculty adviser by the end of the current school year. Currently people are being assigned based on their majors.
“The way it works is that Highline students will select a degree pathway and confirm their program of study/degree,” said Mary Weir, program manager for faculty advising. “Once this is complete, the student will be assigned a faculty adviser.”
The Winter Quarter COVID-19 Financial Relief Fund applications are scheduled to open Nov. 8 at 8 a.m.

The station, just east of Highline on the western edge of Kent, will help connect Sound Transit’s light rail expansion that will reach from Angle Lake to Federal Way by 2024.

VelociPastor (2018) is a clear cut example of a B-Movie.
The film follows a pastor named Doug Jones (Greg Cohan), who has the ability to turn into a dinosaur. He gained this ability after taking a trip to China, during which he stumbled upon a dying woman, who was being chased by ninjas. She gives him a mysterious artifact that he accidentally bleeds on while fleeing from the ninjas.

With just three games left in conference play, the volleyball team has the region title on the line.
The Lady Thunderbirds secured their NWAC playoff spot with a five-set win over Tacoma last Friday. They currently rank second in the West, one win short of Pierce.
The road to playoffs spans months in the making. The pandemic postponed the fall 2020 season several times, finally arriving in spring 2021. In the waiting months, the entire team had never practiced together until a month prior to games. Our team bond was strengthened over the ups and downs experienced in the COVID season.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams finished up their regular seasons this week, while volleyball is on fire going into their final three regular season games.
The Lady T-Birds soccer team concluded their regular season with a record of 9-2-1, making this their eighth straight NWAC West division title.
“We knew how important it is to end the season first, we want what everyone wants. The home playoff game,” said forward Andrea Guiton.
The team took care of business in their last home game versus Lower Columbia on Wednesday, beating them 6-0.

The three different movie adaptations of the Richard Matheson novel I Am Legend are three different beasts with their own victories and failures.
All three films share the same general plot. Each film follows a doctor who is, to his knowledge, the last living human on earth because of a disease that either killed or turned everyone else into a vampire-like creature. The doctor has since made it his mission to hunt down the creatures during the day (since they hibernate at that time due to being sunlight sensitive) and find a cure for the disease.

New Student Government President Mya Leonhard has taken on many leadership roles while at Highline, many of which advocate for equity and change in education.
She joined the Center for Cultural and Inclusive Excellence/Center for Leadership and Service, as the Inter-Cultural Center Peer Facilitator, which led her to expand her experience into the Associated Students of Highline College as the Speaker of the Caucus, and now as the Student Government president. Leonhard was appointed to the position earlier this quarter.

The team had no issue dealing with Grays Harbor on Wednesday, beating them 10-0.
Highline professor Bruce Lamb has been awarded the Minoru Yasui Justice Award for his work on behalf of immigrants.
Lamb is a lawyer and coordinator of the Legal Studies program at Highline. He also volunteers with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, representing people who are seeking asylum in the U.S.
Like Lamb, Yasui earned his law degree from the University of Oregon. He fought for the rights of Japanese-American citizens during World War II, when they were interned in camps simply based on their ethnicity, and their civil liberties were greatly restricted.
Highline Public Safety warned people on campus to secure their vehicles after an increase in car prowling and crime in the college’s parking lots.

Highline’s new budget director said its budget can help unite the college.
“My goal is to work with all the different departments and create a process that is consistent and works for every department,” said Marco Lopez-Torres, who was named the new budget director earlier this fall. He added that the budget should “Create a culture of fiscal responsibility and bring all divisions together to achieve Highline’s goals.

The second trilogy “Of the Dead” films, while not as good as the original, still have some bright spots.
After releasing the final film in his original trilogy of zombie movies, Day of the Dead, George A. Romero took a break from zombie movies throughout the ‘90s. During the early 2000s however, a new zombie craze began to take place in cinema. It was during this craze the granddaddy of the modern day zombie threw his hat into the ring.

The Highline volleyball team bounced back vs Centralia on Wednesday, keeping them one game out of first in the NWAC West.
But early leads couldn’t keep the men’s and women’s soccer teams from dropping three games last week.
The previously undefeated women’s soccer team stumbled vs Tacoma, 3-1, on Saturday. Myka Carr gave the Lady T-Birds an early lead with a goal in the 17th minute. Tacoma roared back with three second-half goals from Kya Scott with two and one from Brianna Rivers.
Highline has received a $2.2 million federal grant to support students.
The grant will be used to help low-income students and to close student equity gaps.
Highline was recently awarded a highly competitive grant from the U.S. Department of Education worth approximately $2.2 million.
The Title III-Part A, Strengthening Institutions Program grants can be used for a variety of purposes, from faculty support to developing new curriculum.
Highline was notified of its award in late September, said May Lukens, special projects manager in Academic Affairs.

The Highline men’s and women’s soccer teams kept hold on first place in their divisions as the end of the regular season approaches.
The men’s soccer team went on the road Saturday and dismantled South Puget Sound 4-1.
With this win they remain two points ahead of Tacoma for the top spot in the NWAC West, at 5-3, 7-3 overall.
Mya Leonhard has been appointed president of the Associated Students of Highline College (ASHC), filling a vacancy that had existed since spring.
Leonhard previously was speaker of the caucus. Last spring’s election saw only one candidate, Anita Wambui, who was elected vice president unopposed.

The late George A. Romero’s “Dead Trilogy” is one of those rare families of films where all three movies are great.
The “Dead Trilogy” are three zombie films written and directed by the grandfather of the modern zombie movie himself, George A. Romero.
Each film came out a decade apart and focused on the human drama, and less on the zombies.

Crime was down at Highline last year amid the pandemic, but students should still take care when they’re on campus, the college’s top public safety official said.
“There is a slight drop in almost every category due to the fact that most classes were held remotely, and employees worked from home,” Menke said. “The fact that the population on campus decreased significantly correlates with the data we are seeing on the Annual Security Report.”

Highline is meeting or exceeding COVID safety precautions prescribed by the state, college officials say.
“As a college we are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience for students, which includes providing the option for on-campus resources and learning opportunities when possible,” said Nicki Bly, Highline public health director.

The trees are changing color as the weather cools down in Western Washington. Forecasters are predicting cloudy skies with temperatures in the 50s until the rain returns on Sunday.
Highline will be hosting COVID-19 vaccine clinics every Monday through October, and you have the opportunity to win a $500 scholarship by participating.
The effort to vaccinate as many students as possible comes after Highline announced vaccinations are required for anyone who comes on campus as of Sept. 27. The clinic is being conducted in cooperation with King County Public Health and 6M Geriatrics, a Seattle-based health provider.

The Fireside Bistro in Building 8 is now expected to open next week.
The opening was delayed while the college waited for the delivery of essential equipment, including a point-of-sale register and an espresso machine.
Pre-pandemic, food service was operated by a series of outside vendors who bid on the contract for the college. Food service included the Bistro on the top floor of Building 8, as well as the Union Cafe on the ground floor and Cafe 29 in Building 29.

Star Wars: Visions has done the seemingly impossible, and takes Star Wars in a unique and new direction, with mixed results.
After the polarising reception of their sequel trilogy, Disney went to seven different Japanese animation studios and gave them an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Highline sports teams win out the week and look forward to keeping their streaks going.
The women’s soccer team remains on top of the NWAC West standings at 7-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in conference. The T-birds beat Lower Columbia 2-0 and gained a forfeit victory over Grays Harbor.
The Lower Columbia game was a defensive showdown, with only eight shots on goal in total between the two clubs.

Highline students say they are happy to be back on campus this fall.
After more than a year of taking classes online or via Zoom, several students who took live classes this quarter say it’s good to be back.

Welcome students to Fall Quarter! I hope you had a nice and relaxing summer. I don’t know about you but this summer flew by! If you are a returning student, I hope you are moving toward the completion of your educational goals. If you are new to our college, welcome and I wish you success and encourage you to take advantage of the services available on campus to help you succeed.

Highline sports teams are off to a strong start as the fall season is in full swing.
The women’s soccer team is on fire, starting the season 5-0-1. Andrea Guiton leads the team with five goals.
“Andrea is super calm on the ball, she takes time to focus on her technique and placement which I really admire,” said teammate Isabelle White.

More than a year and a half after Highline’s closure due to the pandemic, the campus has re-opened for Fall Quarter.
Open again are many student services, allowing students to access the services in-person.
Support services for students such as financial aid, enrollment, advising, TRIO, cashiering and career services are available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fall colors are decorating Highline’s campus with the reopening of school this week. Rain is expected again on Thursday, with some sun breaks this weekend and temperatures reaching the low 60s.

Tom Jackson came to Highline as an athlete, and left on a path toward becoming a leader.
Dr. Jackson, president of Humboldt State University in California, was named Highline’s 2020-21 Distinguished Alumnus last June. He came to Highline to compete in track, and graduated in 1982.

Samantha Sebring has worn more hats than most in her time as a student at Highline.
She has been the community budget coordinator for the Center for Leadership and Service; chair of the Services and Activities Budget Committee; student representative to Highline’s Budget Advisory Council.
She has served as a member of the CORE Leadership Team; received a Student Legacy Award; stayed a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society; and maintained her honor roll-qualifying GPA.

The COVID-19 vaccine is becoming more accessible, restrictions are starting to be slowly lifted. But that does not mean the virus is gone and we can let our guard down.
When I first was informed I tested positive for COVID-19, I was in genuine shock and did not know what to feel.

True Grit is one of the most well-known western stories for a good reason.
There are two different films: the original made in 1969 (directed by Henry Hathaway) and the remake made in 2010 (directed by Ethan and Joel Coen).
Both films are based on a novel by the same name written by Charles Portis in 1968. The Coen brothers’ version is the most faithful to the book.

The lack of a championship did not diminish Alex Velasco’s enjoyment of the Highline men’s soccer season.
The NWAC’s leading scorer said he will back next year to try to win one, however.
“Alex is such a blessing to be around. On the field he’s setting the standard for us all…Off the field it’s nothing but smiles and good times with Alex,” said teammate Jorge Figueroa.
Due to the success of last year’s virtual commencement, Highline will be holding a virtual commencement ceremony and a cross-the-stage event on June 17.
Thomas Bui, director of the Center for Leadership & Service at Highline, said that there is a difference between graduation and commencement.

Though it wasn’t always easy, Ramla Geilani is proud to say she’s graduating this year.
The COVID-19 pandemic reshaped her college experience and made things harder, she said.
“The hardest thing about graduating college during a pandemic was starting to lose motivation,” Geilani said. “Us college students didn’t really get to experience the regular college experience this past year and a half due to the pandemic.”
And even before classes went remote, it took some time for her to adjust to Highline.

Highline helped Tyler Ing-Pich find his voice.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic forcing people apart, he said he’s managed to grow close to those around him, all while learning more about himself and the person who he wants to be.
“Throughout my two years as a Highline student, I have been able to meet and connect with peers, professors, and counselors who have undoubtedly helped me grow significantly as an individual,” said Ing-Pich.

Returning to school gave Cathleen Turner the career path she wanted, alongside a better future for both her, and her daughter.
That’s not to say that it’s been an easy journey.
“It was a new beginning for me, I was really burned out with all the jobs I was doing. I wanted to go back to school to solidify a new opportunity,” Turner said.
Before becoming a mom, Turner was prepared to go to law school. So when her daughter came, plans had to shift.

Poetry helped Emily Hamilton reclaim rhyme and reason in her life.
Hamilton is a returning college student finishing her AA degree with honors and is an editor for Arcturus, the college literary magazine.
She will be working on her bachelor of applied science in Global Trade and Logistics at Highline in the fall.

Mary Belay is ready to shut her laptop and get back into the classroom.
When she first made the decision to attend Highline two years ago, she didn’t expect to be spending more hours on Zoom than on campus. And adjusting to the new learning environment proved to be a challenge.

Coaching volleyball is a rite of passage for the Littleman family.
Forty years ago Coach John Littleman coached Highline’s women volleyball team, and for the past 11 years his son, Chris Littleman, has continued the tradition.
For John Littleman he began coaching volleyball at the High School level where he took home four State Championships.
Sound Transit’s Federal Way expansion project will not be delayed, even in the wake of the pandemic’s economic downturn.
The project, which began last year and will include a station close to campus, came to a sudden albeit not long-lasting stop in the early days of the pandemic. The work stoppage did not last long enough to seriously hinder the construction timeline, but Sound Transit’s worries did come in the form of some financial obstacles.
Local elections in the city of Kent will feature three city council seats up for election alongside the race for mayor in this year’s August primary.
City governments provide a variety of services, such as taking care of parks, police, planning, and maintaining local roads.
Kent’s current mayor, Dana Ralph, has served as mayor since 2018, and is running for re-election. She is being challenged by Dawn Bennett, an advocate for education and criminal justice reform.

Several city council seats are contested in Federal Way heading into the November general election.
King County’s elections filing week ended the evening of May 21. May 24 was the last day for candidates to withdraw.
Of Federal Way’s seven city council positions, four are up for grabs.

Whatever happens with this year’s election, the city of Des Moines will begin 2022 with a new mayor.
The city of Des Moines doesn’t have a separately elected mayor, as it has the council-manager form of government. With this system, the mayor is first elected to the city council and from there selected by the council to represent the city and take on various duties. This was the case for the city’s current mayor, Matt Pina.
Local city council elections in the city of Burien will feature four contested races this year in the August primary.
City governments provide a variety of services, such as taking care of parks, police, planning, and maintaining local roads.

Student Employee of the Year Heydie Martinez Gonzalez attributes her award to the hard work she’s put in, and those who have helped her along the way.
Martinez Gonzalez was announced as the 2021 student employee of the year on June 1, by the CASE Center.
She’s worked at the Transition Success Center for two years, since her start in 2019 at Highline.

Lupin III: The First (2019) feels like a person combined James Bond and Indiana Jones and made it into a 3D animation.
The film is based on the now 50-year-running anime (japanese animation) series Lupin III, which started in 1971.
The series is broken up into parts, similar to Bond films. There’s no big overarching story, it’s just the characters in different eras.
The Associated Students of Highline College will hold its 2021-2022 elections beginning Wednesday, June 2.
Finalist Maribel Torres Jiménez has been chosen as Highline’s dean for academic pathways and partnerships.

Hunter White gives his son Eddie a gentle toss at the pier at the Des Moines Marina recently. Boats float in the harbor while the pier itself appears to reach nearly all the way to Vashon Island. Cloudy weather is expected to continue before giving way to some sun breaks this weekend.

While it may just seem like an excuse for a three-day weekend and shopping mall sales today, Memorial Day started out as a far more solemn day of remembrance.
Celebration of the holiday in the U.S. has spanned centuries. It’s a federal holiday and an opportunity to honor and recognize all those who have died in the course of military service in this country.
And, for many, it’s a welcome day off from work or school and a perfect occasion for a neighborhood barbeque.

Highline spring sports have come to a close on a mostly positive note, with games able to be played and not cancelled for COVID.

For Highline’s new director of budget and grant services, the college does many things right – and like all things – has room for improvement.
Jack Hutchinson began as the new director on May 3.
Hutchinson previously worked as the internal audit director for Sound Transit, as the internal audit manager for the Port of Seattle, and as finance director for the City of Fircrest.
Some incoming University of Washington students say they’ll feel safer on a campus where COVID-19 vaccinations are mandatory.
The university announced at the start of the month that it will require students attending all three of its campuses to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Several Washington universities, including Washington State University, Central Washington University, and other private institutions have made the same decision.

Sound Transit is extending its Kent/Des Moines transit development survey through June 7.

The Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy are prime examples of great British wit, action, and passion for the craft of filmmaking.
The trilogy is an anthology, composed of films that don’t connect storywise, but instead were made and starred the same people. The Cornetto reference is to an Italian ice cream cone (much like a Drumstick) that makes a cameo in each of the films.
The people involved include director Edgar Wright, who also wrote all three films along with Simon Pegg. Pegg also starred in all three features, along with co-star Nick Frost. The final person to have the same job throughout all these films was producer Nira Park.

A link between two local music programs is striking a chord with some Highline students.
The iBuildBridges Program, in collaboration with Highline College’s 25 Music 101 (Creating Your Own Music) and 103 (Intro to Music Technology) students, have found a new way to stay connected musically without being in the same room.
The collaboration between the two programs started a little over a year ago, right before the COVID-19 pandemic, said Dr. Ben Thomas, a music professor at Highline.
