Highline hosts vaccine clinic Mondays in October

Mark Wilkins Staff Reporter Oct 07, 2021

Kendra Stevens gets a COVID shot from Kimberly Mcleod, who works for 6M, the company partnering with Highline to provide vaccinations.

Highline will be hosting COVID-19 vaccine clinics every Monday through October, and you have the opportunity to win a $500 scholarship by participating.

The effort to vaccinate as many students as possible comes after Highline announced vaccinations are required for anyone who comes on campus as of Sept. 27. The clinic is being conducted in cooperation with King County Public Health and 6M Geriatrics, a Seattle-based health provider.

The clinic will be open from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Monday in October (open to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 4).  The vaccination stations will be located in front of Building 6, near the East Parking lot.  During inclement weather the clinic will be located in Building 4, room 109.

The clinic will be offering all forms of the vaccine and appointments are encouraged but not required. Visit https://www.highline.edu/august-vaccine-clinics/ for details on making an appointment.

The clinic will also be offering the Pfizer-BioNTech booster shot for students at least 18 years of age and with underlying medical conditions, or at greater risk for Covid-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting.

The on-campus vaccine clinic has been a success thus far, routinely servicing over 40 patients per week, college officials said.

Highline will also be offering incentives for students to participate in the vaccine clinic, starting with a free pair of the college’s 60th anniversary commemorative socks.  In addition, for every 50 students who get the vaccine, Highline will hold a drawing to award a $500 scholarship for the Fall Quarter for up to five students.
