In front of a loud, energetic, and sold-out crowd, the Seattle Seahawks earned their right to play in Super Bowl LX by defeating their rival, the Los Angeles Rams, in a thrilling 31-27 victory at Lumen Field. With the win, the Seahawks become the NFC Champions and are set to appear in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2015 and for the fourth time in franchise history.
The Super Bowl will take place in Santa Clara on Feb. 8, where the Seahawks will take on the New England Patriots. The Seahawks vs. the Patriots sets up a rematch from the infamous 2015 Super Bowl XLIX.

Taylor Swift is the talk of the town these days. Which town? Well, all of them really. The music icon continues to dazzle and delight while on the top of the world. Although she’s seen almost two decades of success and a plethora of awards, she may have just concluded one of the best weeks imaginable.
Between the previous Sunday (the Grammys) and last Sunday (the Superbowl), the “Fearless” singer won a record-breaking fourth Album of the Year Grammy, announced the release of her 11th album, completed an international leg of her iconic Eras Tour to a sold-out crowd in Japan, oh, and she made it back to Las Vegas in time to watch her famous, arguably the best-there’s-ever-been tight-end boyfriend win the Super Bowl. It doesn’t get much better than that.
In a groundbreaking discovery that has left conspiracy theorists scratching their heads, scientists have confirmed that the Earth is indeed round. Yes, you read that right – round! If you plan to transfer to a university, please attend the Transfer Fair in Building 8. This event welcomes all students, international and local.
Attending the International Transfer Fair is a great opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives of various universities and gain a better understanding of different application requirements, campus culture, and university programs.

A new coffee shop on Highline’s campus, Ground to Tree Coffee, is now open in Building 29.
Ground to Tree Coffee, which opened on Nov. 1, is designed to provide HOST students with valuable work experience and bring a community-oriented gathering space to campus. Its vision is to be a place where students can host clubs, complete school tasks, find a sense of belonging, and of course, serve coffee to our Highline community. The cafe has centered on the needs of students and professors.

Highline College’s Center for Leadership & Service aims to provide students with invaluable opportunities to develop their leadership skills and actively contribute to the college community.
Led by the dedicated efforts of Jeff Kurnick, the center “plan[s] events, programs, leadership conferences, and retreats, centered around our students and empower them to make Highline what they want it to be,” said Kurnick, a passionate advocate for student empowerment.

Highline is inviting all students, families, and friends to learn about different ways to pay for college. The first “Paying for College Night” of the year will take place Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 4 – 6 p.m.
The night will begin with a presentation in Building 7, then transition to Building 30 to work on applications with guided help.
When I ask my students when the next election is, frequently they will say “November 2024” or whichever presidential year is coming up next.
In fact there is an election every year. Odd-numbered years feature local races such as school boards, city councils and utility districts. Who fills these seats likely will have a larger impact on your immediate life than who the president is, but these elections have the lowest turnout of the four-year election cycle.
It’s worth noting that recently Democrats in King County got voters to approve moving county elections to even-numbered years, in line with the rest of the state. They hope it will increase voter turnout.
