Highline MaST is hosting a literature event called Sea Critter story time, online for toddlers 3 years and older
“Sea Critter Story Time is a partnership with the Woodmont Library as an extra special toddler (ages 3+) story time once a month,” said Katy Kachmarik said, outreach coordinator for the MaST center.
The event will be 10:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15.
The event will consist of ocean-themed books, interactive songs with a children’s librarian, and games, Kachmarik said, as well as an introduction to our underwater neighbors
The motive to creating the program was for educational purposes and for the community to get involved.
“This partnership has been going on for three-plus years now as a way to engage with our local community about the animals that live in Puget Sound,” said Kachmarik. “There was a need for more early learning experiences in our community and partnering with the Woodmont Library to offer a story time with animals was an awesome opportunity to expand programming options.”
Despite the pandemic restrictions, virtual meetings are still availabale which is how the story time will be shown, Kachmarik said.
Normally, this program is offered in person at Woodmont Library so the only difference is that we will be meeting virtually via Zoom. Anybody can participate in this event.
“Anyone is welcome to attend with online registration,” said Kachmarik , “but it is important to keep in mind that this is a toddler story time, so it is not age appropriate for older marine enthusiasts.”
This is an event for ages 3+ and their adults, kachmarik said. In order to keep the community safe, participants need to register before the program starts.
