Highline women’s volleyball will continue their stellar season as they advance to the Elite 8 in the NWAC Championship.
This past weekend at the Thunderdome, the team battled through the regionals bracket, punching their ticket onto the next part of the tournament, earning the second seed for the NWAC West Region.
To start regionals off, Highline faced off against the North Region’s fourth seed, Whatcom.
Unsurprisingly, the T-birds came up on top, 3-0.
Top players for Highline include sophomore Madison Mamizuka, with 33 assists; freshman Nevaeh Seuteni came on top for the team, with 7 kills; lastly, sophomore Sonya Fa’amalele had a kill percentage of .667.
On the second day of regionals, Highline had to face Treasure Valley, the second seed in the East Region. In a tight match, Highline was not able to pull through, and lost the match 1-3.
The ladies were able to come back, and face off against SW Oregon. Highline came on top 3-0, and clinched their spot into the Elite 8.
Sophomores Chelsea Velez and Aspen Olson both dominated the offense, with nine kills each in the match. Sophomore Angel Johnson was able to come out with 14 assists for Highline.
Starting Saturday, Nov. 22, Highline will battle in the Elite 8 tournament, at Pierce College in Lakewood, Wash. They face off against North Region first seed, Yakima Valley at 2 p.m.
