Trump whisked away after attempted assassination by “Friendly Federal Assassin" Cole Allen.

“Friendly Federal Assassin”: Shooting at the correspondent’s dinner

Staff Reporter Apr 30, 2026

Shots fired at the correspondent’s dinner sparks speculation that it was a premeditated hoax. On Saturday night, a man rushed past the security checkpoint where the dinner was being held, and it said that he was targeting President Donald Trump. This would be the third assassination attempt on Trump.

Several videos have been released from that night with the public thinking it was all a hoax possibly to win over the midterm elections coming up.

Cole Tomas Allen, the man behind the assassination attempt who called himself a “Friendly Federal Assain”, was found to have emailed his family prior to the shooting. The affidavit was published where you can find his email (at the bottom of page 4).

Allen expresses his dislike for Trump in the email stating, “I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.”

According to NBC News, many people who personally knew Allen either stated they’ve only known him as a good, smart person. Bin Tang, one of Allen’s professors even said he was, “Soft spoken, very polite, a good fellow.”

Speculations began when videos first came out of Vice President JD Vance being escorted out faster than Trump. Instagram user nazaoti said, “Wonder how many times they rehearsed for this scene.”

Reddit user u/PepinoPicante said, “I think it’s sad that we have a president who is so untrustworthy and despicable that people immediately worry that he could have faked that kind of terrible incident.”

In addition to the first video there have been several more that have made their way slowly to all social media platforms, including that of the gunman Allen running past security at an unimaginable speed catching security off guard.

Later that night Trump delivered remarks after the attempted assassination. He says “I didn’t want to say this but this is why we have to have the attribute … We need the ballroom.”

Trump early the next morning made a statement on Truth Social where he again mentioned the ballroom: “This event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom.”

This isn’t the only incident that many have questioned, others have also taken note of a reporter for Fox News who was cut off. She was sitting right next to press secretary Karoline Leavitt‘s husband.

She said, “He kind of leaned over … you need to be safe. And he was just very serious when he said that to me. And he kind of looked around the room and said, you know there are some …”

But this isn’t the only time Leavitt has been brought up prior to the event. Fox News interviewed Leavitt where she said, “There will be some shots fired tonight.”

Many had questions regarding everything that was being said, or seen, all over social media with some even stating that this was all a part of a stunt.

Trump the next day had an interview with 60 Minutes Overtime where he even seemed to get defensive amid the shooting. He was asked, “Why do you think so many people want to kill you?”

Trump responded, “They go after consequential presidents. They go after presidents that do things.” He continued, “We’ve taken a country that was actually a dead country.”

In the interview it’s mentioned why it took so long to get him to safety to which he stated, “It was a little bit me I wanted to see what was happening.”

Trump has made it a point time and again that he wants a ballroom and it wants it now. He does not want to wait and when given the chance to talk about his beloved ballroom, he will make it a point to bring it up.
