President Trump has continued to raise eyebrows by using AI-created images that many have seen as disturbing. His most recent was a photo of himself portraying Jesus. But this isn’t the first time he’s posted a controversial image of himself; he previously has posted the infamous photo of himself sitting on a throne with a crown on his head that started the No Kings movement.
Not only has this new controversial image received a lot of attention and backlash, including from many of his supporters. People have been saying that this is in many ways “blasphemous,” a concerned redditor on r/christianity stated. With another responding: “Exactly what I was gonna comment.”
Although many people see Trump portraying himself as Jesus healing the sick. Trump denied all of the allegations. He told a reporter in a video published by CNN, “I thought it was me as a doctor.”
Many see this as a way of backtracking what he posted. Another redditor u/RealisticSeesaw7788 said, “I looked up ‘Jesus Christ robe’ on Google images and lookie here, a ton of images of Jesus wearing the same robe that AI Trump wears.”
Depicting yourself as a God or Jesus was seen as an act of rebellion towards the one true God/creator. Trump who prides himself as a “God fearing man,” is continuously seen contradicting himself, time and time again, but now he seems to have gone too far to a point of no return for some followers.
People have had a lot to say about this photo, and many of those who voted for Trump are both offended and left in disbelief. John North told MS Now, “I’m ashamed that he would actually do that.”
On the other side of the spectrum some of Trump’s supporters seem to be following his lead after stating he was a ‘doctor’. Comedian Jordan Klepper, went out to talk to supporters about this photo. One supporter said, “I see a healer, he’s here to heal the sick!”
Trump went onto Truth Social before the uploading of the image, where he said, “Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime.”
Trump has openly spoken about his antipathy for Pope Leo, but it wasn’t always this way. When Pope Leo, the first American Pope, was elected, Trump posted his congratulations on Instagram:

Donald Trump
But these feelings aren’t one-sided. Leo, on the other hand, has dealt with his feelings toward Trump with poise. In an article by PBS News, they state, “Leo made clear he is not a Trump supporter.”
In a video published by Sky News Pope Leo is giving a sermon where he said, “Woe to those who manipulate religion in the very name of God for their own, military, economic, and political gain.” He continues, “the world is being ravaged by a handful of tyrants.”
Although Leo has never once directed any comment to Trump one can start to wonder if some of the things said are indirect.
While the feud between the pope and the president remains on rocky ground, with no end in sight, perhaps, with all the backlash, Trump’s social media consumption will soon be monitored by his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, though we highly doubt that would be the case.
