Though Highline’s women’s basketball team has struggled in the beginning of the season, they have found a way to win in conference matchups. Currently sitting with a 3-11 overall record, two of the team’s wins have come from NWAC conference matches.

Sophomore Anaiya Lewis was the team high scorer, with 15 points in the matchup. Other notable player statistics includes Hani Ahmed with two three-pointers made out of three attempts.

After winter break, the team has seen improvements in their gameplay. Head coach Emil Swain acknowledges this, saying, “Over our winter break the women’s basketball team used our time to work hard and improve our skills, heal and recover from our injuries, and get ready for league play. We ended the first week of league play with a 1-1 record. We are excited for the rest of our season. See you at the gym! GOYA”.

The team just played a home match at the Dome against Tacoma CC on Jan. 29, with results not available at press time.
