The 2024 Oddities & Curiosities Expo is to be held at the Seattle Convention Center.

This event is for the people who are interested in the creepy and the eyebrow raising unusual. True to its name and the chosen month of arrival, the expo will have items for sale or viewing that lean towards the macabre and odd. Taxidermy, horror themed items, odd handicrafts, art, creepy clothes, animal bones, preserved lifeforms, unusual accessories and many more will be showcased at this expo. (The Oddities & Curiosities Expo website has stated that they require all animal related items that venders sell to be sustainably sourced.)

Performances on stage as a side show along with several taxidermy classes will be available at the event. Although the taxidermy classes do not come with the expo tickets and are a separate fee.

Tickets bought before the start of the expo cost $12, however tickets can still be bought the day of the expo for a fee of $15. Children who are 12 years old or younger are given free entry.

Prices according to the size of the specimen picked, can range from $150 to $225. Sizes of the specimens for learning the craft of taxidermy range from small insects to antelope.

Enrolled Highline College students have the opportunity to apply and get free admission to The Oddities & Curiosities Expo, provided by the Art Club. By scanning the QR code on posters put up on campus and filling out the applicant form, students can gain a spot on the list.

The drawback is that ticket availability is limited and students are required to stay at the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch is provided but students will have to plan their own way there and back as means of transportation to the expo is not guaranteed to be provided.

People who have an interest in the peculiar and creepy may have difficulty finding places that are of similar interests. The Oddities & Curiosities Expo makes it possible to connect sellers and buyers who share the same interest in the peculiar by offering a community event about it.

The event being an art expo means that it is similar to an art fair where businesses and artists will sell items to attendees. But the distinction is that an expo is less aimed towards consumerism, although there will still be some items out for sale. Instead, the items are curated like a museum and the event itself is more of a viewing showcase.
