In last Saturday’s regular season game, where Highline College played as visitors to Treasure Valley College, and emerged victorious, Henleigh Elder was the outstanding player of the match, with a 6-0 victory in singles and in doubles sharing the field with Sophia Crosby; they destroyed the local team with a crushing 8-1.

Sophia Crosby was recognized for her outstanding accomplishments on the court by being named as the NWAC Athlete of the Week for the week of April 8-14.

The game began with good rhythm and harmony, taking the first singles game with Raily Cordova to the third set and extra time. Although Helena Henry from Treasure Valley College maintained and demonstrated good control, but with the passage of time, the Thunderbirds showed more strength and ended the match with a win.

The team stayed quite busy over the weekend, taking advantage of the away game and also playing a friendly the day after the official conference game. The tennis team traveled on Sunday to play for a friendly match against College of Idaho, a highly competitive team that plays in a more prestigious league since it is the NAIA.

This match motivated the team to continue working and improving day by day, since the match ended with a 7 to 2 in favor of the Yotes. The next challenge that the Thunderbirds face will be against Lewis Clark State College on Friday, April 19, as a visitor at 4 p.m., and surely promises to be a great spectacle.
