If you’re not booked this Wednesday, check out and join in on Arcturus’ first Literary Salon.

The Literary Salon is a virtual reading event by Arcturus, Highline’s literary magazine, where several of the college’s own will read aloud for everyone. These will be from pieces they’ve written themselves, or some of their favorite readings.

The readers are Highline President Dr. John Mosby, English professor Greg November, former Highline student Nathan Yockey, Arcturus submission winners, as well as current and former Arcturus editors.

The event will be on March 17, 2 to 3 p.m. over Zoom. The meeting ID is 886 2725 0257.

There will be an open mic at the end as well.

This reading event is a “great opportunity to hear from fellow students, staff, faculty – [all] sharing their works or favorite passages,” Dr. Mosby said. “It’s also an opportunity to showcase the Arcturus, the annual student publication, and its writers [and] contributors.”

Joining for this event is a great way to get involved, get creative, and express yourself, he said.

“I’m a big fan of reading and expression. I was an English major in college and that experience shaped who I am today,” Dr. Mosby said. “Getting involved in these events provides another opportunity for expression and creativity.  Plus, our students are very talented and this provides a space to showcase their work.”

A big part Dr. Mosby is looking forward to, is hearing from students in a different way than usual.

“I always appreciate the opportunity to hear and learn from our students and not always in the traditional way,” he said. “Our students have a lot to say and this is another way to hear them.”
