The Highline women’s volleyball team added two more wins and remained first in the NWAC West.
The Lady T-Birds have a conference record of 5-0 and 15-3 overall.
On Wednesday, the Thunderbirds defeated Tacoma in a straight sweep, 3-0. Highline accumulated 75 points to Tacoma’s 57.
It was a strong outing for Highline setter Lauren Clark, who finished the game with 22 assists.
Leading up to the rest of conference play, the Thunderbirds focus will “…continue to try and be consistent on each play. If another team has tendencies we try to prepare for what they do,” said Head Coach Chris Littleman.
Last Friday, the Lady T-Birds rolled past Centralia, 3-0. The women’s volleyball team had a total of 75 points compared to Centrailia’s 44.
Highline had a strong performance offensively with 12 kills from sophomore Bethany Tuchardt and 11 kills from sophomore Khadijah Morgan.
Highline’s libero, Tru Onitsuka received defensive player of the week for the NWAC West.
Onitsuka had an impressive week with 27 digs against Centralia and 20 against Tacoma.
When asked about other opponents looking to knock them off their win streak of five, Head Coach Chris Littleman reported that there is no pressure.
“We take it one match at a time. One set at a time. One point at a time,” said Littleman.
On Wednesday, the Thunderbirds are set to face Pierce college for an in-conference showdown with results unavailable at press time.
Highline is on a five-game win streak and Pierce has amassed its own four-game win streak, but only one team will be able to keep its streak alive.
On Friday, Oct. 14, Highline takes a short trip to the neighboring Green River Gators. The match begins at 7 p.m.
