Highline College will hold a celebration to honor Dr. John Mosby next week, Wed. Oct. 14, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m., in Building 8.

“The Highline College community is invited to join us for a special dedication ceremony celebrating the life, leadership, and lasting impact of Dr. John R. Mosby,” states an email from the office of the President of Highline College.

The email continues, “To honor his transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to equity, the college will dedicate the newly renovated home of the Equity, Diversity, and Transformation (EDT) Division in Building 25 as the Dr. John R. Mosby Center for Equity, Diversity, and Transformation.

The evening will begin with a reception in Building 8 (Mt. Townsend), where guests will have an opportunity to gather and reflect on Dr. Mosby’s lasting contributions to Highline College and the broader community. The reception will be followed by a luminary tribute and commemorative walk, guiding attendees along a path illuminated by messages of gratitude, remembrance, and inspiration. The evening will conclude at Building 25 with the ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the Dr. John R. Mosby Center for Equity, Diversity, and Transformation.”

Faculty and staff are invited to participate in the luminary tribute by “writing a personalized message on a luminary bag. … Whether you share a favorite memory, a note of appreciation, or words that reflect Dr. Mosby’s impact on our community, your message will become part of this meaningful tribute and help illuminate the path honoring his legacy.”

Luminary bags are available in Building 12 at the Office of the President until Oct. 13.

If you plan to attend, you are asked to RSVP to president@highline.edu, but it is emphasized that “all are welcome.”
