Highline Public Safety is holding a cleanup next week to spread awareness of crime prevention on April 28.
Students, staff and faculty are welcome to participate in this cleanup, and all supplies will be provided by Highline.
“The goal of the cleanup is to bring awareness to Public Safety crime prevention programs such as safety escorts, safety plans and classroom presentations,” the director of Public Safety and Emergency Management David Menke said.
Public Safety’s goal to keep the campus clean brings more than just awareness. “It also has an added benefit of sending a message to the community that we notice and care what happens here,” Menke said.
The best way to reduce crime is to care for what’s around you, Menke said.
“Visible signs of disorder signal that no one cares and can lead to increased disorder like trash and even let criminals know crime may go undeterred,” he said.
“We want to keep a clean and beautiful campus that students and staff can be proud to be a part of,” Menke said.
