All grade levels, backgrounds, voices, and skill levels are encouraged to submit! 

Highline’s own literary journal, Arcturus, is now open for submissions for their 2026 issue! If you have a poem, creative writing, art, photography, music, animation, or short film, you can submit your work here for a chance to be published in Arcturus 2026. Submissions are due Feb. 23.

Being published in Arcturus is a great way to share your work and creativity with others. It’s something you can put on your resume or college applications. It also helps you get used to the process of having a deadline and working with publishers. Submitting to Arcturus is a wonderful way to start your creative journey or career. 

Arcturus has been a student-run literary journal since the 1960s. It was created to share the voice of our community through creative writing and art. In 2017, the Arcturus website was published, and this has allowed us to expand our publication to include written works over 2,500 words, music, short films, and animations. This expansion of our publication is a newer and exciting aspect of our literary journal and we are excited to share that with you!
