If you are a new, or returning student, welcome to a brand new fall quarter – and the start of a new school year! Highline has already got a calendar chock-full of exciting events for students to attend. The intention to hopefully relieve some of the stress of the new quarter and have some fun.
“I’m feeling confident! I’m pretty happy to be at school honestly,” said returning student Kimberly Chen, as she talked about going into this school year.
Running Start student KP, dives further into this, saying, “I feel prepared from past experiences, and well supported by the Highline staff and my professors. I feel like I have everything I need to finish my last year strong.”

This past week was Thunderweek, which “is a week of events hosted by Highline’s Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) to welcome students to the academic quarter.” A resource fair took place on Tuesday which had a turnout of around 125-200 students, and covered the various amenities that students can take advantage of during the school year. Overall, the resource fair is to highlight Highline’s partner programs, as well as the programs itself offers. Highline offers more resources than you’d believe.
Some upcoming events include: Tuesday, September 30, you can go to The Cultural Lounge in building 2 where you can “discuss and learn about different cultures through conversation, games, and snacks.” The event starts at 1 p.m. and goes until 3 p.m.
Moving out of September, on October 23, all Running Start students are welcome to Mt. Constance/Olympus, Building 8 from 1 – 3 p.m. for the Running Start Fall Social Into the Twilight Zone where you can enjoy some free snacks, fun games, and listen to a live performance by the Music Club.
The last event of the month takes place on October 28, in Building 8, room 103. Here, from 1 – 2:30 p.m., there will be a Spells, Skills, and Self-Care event where you can participate in trivia to earn some prizes and have some free snacks.
You can find all of these events on the calendar on Highline’s website, along with other upcoming events and updates throughout the school year.
If you need help of any kind, Highline has got your back. Schedule an online meeting with a coach at the Highline Benefits Hub for financial aid help, housing support, or food access support.
