Staff Reporter Nov 28, 2024

After a successful season by Highline’s men’s soccer team, their season has come to an end in the NWAC playoffs. Facing off in a tight matchup against East Region second seed Walla Walla, this matchup was decided in overtime.

To end the first half, Highline was up 1-0, due to a goal scored by freshman Idin Fakhri. As both teams fought through the rainy second half, Walla Walla was able to score, tying up the match 1-1.

This matchup ended with a goal by Walla Walla in overtime, with a score of 2-1, bringing them up to the semi-finals, and ending Highline’s season.

The Thunderbirds finish the season with an overall record of 14-2-1. They ended the conference with a 13-0-1 record, and remained undefeated at home.

Even though this season did not end how the team wanted it to, they still have tremendous pride to take, as many of the players represented in the NWAC All-Star Game.

Representing the NWAC first team, we have Mason Abdella, Mykah Harris, Leon Tezuka, Idin Fakhri, Javier Luevanos, and Andres Zulugaga.

Representing the NWAC second team, we have Prestion Salisbury, and Zachary Bartlett.

Abdella was named co-region MVP offensive player of the year, alongside Harris being named co-region MVP defensive player of the year.

Highline will now prepare for the 25-26 season, hoping for another successful season.
