This season, the Highline College golf team competed fiercely in several tournaments, building momentum and showcasing their talents. The culmination of Sibbett’s efforts was evident in the championship, where his performance was a testament to his consistency and ability to excel under pressure.
The NWAC Golf Championship attracted the top 72 golfers from the Northwest Athletic Conference, creating an intensely competitive environment. Highline College faced formidable opponents, with North Idaho, Spokane, and Southwestern Oregon leading the way.
Although the final team finished outside the top positions, the individual ability of David Sibbett stood out. Over the two days of the 36-hole stroke play event, Sibbett posted a combined score of 143, just one stroke under par, demonstrating his skill on the challenging course.
On the first day, Sibbett exhibited exceptional control and precision, carding a stunning round of 64. His front nine was particularly impressive, as he navigated the course with an array of birdies, ending the day with a 31 on the outward nine. The back nine saw him maintain his form, culminating in a 33 – resulting in the day’s lowest score.
The second round presented more challenges, but Sibbett’s resilience was evident. He faced tougher conditions and recorded a round of 79. Despite this, his earlier performance provided a strong foundation, securing his fourth place finish: Day 1: 64 (-7), Day 2: 79 (+8), Total: 143 (-1).
