Over spring break, the Highline tennis squad kept their rackets hot, notching three consecutive victories in conference matchups, solidifying their dominance on the court.
Adding to their impressive run, the team embarked on a crossover event in Sacramento, Calif., where they showcased their skills against junior colleges from across the region on March 21, 22, and 24.
In their most recent clash on home turf against Spokane Community College, Highline emerged triumphant with a resounding 7-2 victory for the girls’ team.
Standout players Sophia Crosby and Denali Terry led the charge, each contributing over 12 points in singles play and securing decisive wins in doubles with scores of 8-4 and 8-5, respectively.
On the other side of Washington, Spokane showed strength in the face of defeat, taking this defeat as a lesson, with only 2 matches won in singles. Elise Carsey proved to be their most redeemable and strong player, winning both games she played.
The team’s journey to Sacramento proved fruitful, engaging in three friendly matches against American River College, Menlo College, and Sierra College.
With impressive results of 6-3, 7-0, and a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Sierra College, the Highline squad embraced the challenge of competing against formidable opponents, signaling their readiness for the road ahead.
Looking forward, Highline tennis eagerly anticipates their upcoming home game on Saturday, April 6, at 8:30 a.m., where they will face off against Treasure Valley Community College.
