Super Bowl LX captured the attention of fans across the country as the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots to re-claim the NFL championship for the second time in franchise history.

On Feb. 8, the Seahawks clinched their second Super Bowl title with a 29–13 victory over the Patriots in Santa Clara, Calif., at Levi’s Stadium, showcasing a dominant performance on both sides of the ball. Although, it was not their first time winning the Super Bowl, it was the first time they won in twelve years.

Seattle’s defense set the tone early, keeping New England Patriots off the scoreboard for the first three quarters and applying consistent pressure throughout the night. The unit, known as the “Dark Side,” recorded 6 sacks and 3 turnovers, disrupting Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and limiting New England’s offensive rhythm.

The Dark Side defense was a highlight of the Seahawks all year and a foundational piece that made the Seahawks as formidable as they were. The Seahawks defense was the No. 1 ranked total defense in the NFL, finishing the 2025 season as the league’s top-scoring defense (only allowing an average of 17.2 points per game) and the top-ranked defense by yards allowed (267 per game).

On the Seahawks offense, running back Kenneth Walker III was named Super Bowl MVP after rushing for 135 yards and recording two receptions for 26 more yards. Walker became the first running back to win MVP since Terrell Davis won the award in Super Bowl XXXII (in 1998).

Walker’s performance, combined with a steady day from quarterback Sam Darnold, helped Seattle maintain control of the game. Darnold has been criticized for often turning the ball over throughout the regular season. He led the league in turnovers (14 interceptions and 6 lost fumbles), but he played clean throughout the playoffs and recorded zero turnovers throughout the post season, helping propel the Seahawks to World Champion status.

When Darnold was asked how he was able to help this team win a championship, he said, “That’s easy — my teammates and my coaches. They believed in me ever since the beginning of OTA’s and training camp. Every single day we came to work.”

Kicker Jason Myers, was also very important to the success of the game. As he scored a total of 17 points for the Seattle Seahawks, setting a Super Bowl record with five successful field goals. His performance made it possible for the Seahawks to advance in each quarter to then end up winning the Super Bowl. Myers led the entire league in scoring during the 2025 season (including the postseason), recording 171 total points.

Seattle’s first touchdown (and the only Seahawks offensive touchdown of the game) came with 13:24 left in the fourth quarter when Seahawks quarterback Darnold connected with receiver AJ Barner from 16 yards out. “It was just selling that run play, and A.J. doing a great job of getting out and making a great catch,” said Darnold of the play.

Although the Patriots scored a pair of late touchdowns, Seattle’s lead was already secure. With the score sitting at 19-0, New England first found the endzone with 12:27 left in the fourth quarter, when Maye found Mack Hollins for a 35-yard touchdown pass. The second touchdown was a 7-yard connection between Maye and Rhamondre Stevenson, which came with only 2:21 left in the game (they failed the two-point conversion attempt).

The Seattle mayor Katie B. Wilson and Beth Knox, President and Ceo of the Seattle sports and commission both commented on their thoughts on the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl LX.

Around 1 million fans showed up to celebrate the World Champion Seahawks in their victory parade.

“This year’s Seahawks team brought all of Seattle together with the strongest, loudest, and most united spirit I’ve ever seen,” said Wilson. “They delivered in historic fashion, beating the Patriots and bringing a second Lombardi Trophy home to Seattle.”

“This championship adds a powerful chapter to Seattle’s sports story and places our city once again on the national stage,” said Knox. “An NFC title and a Super Bowl victory reflect the heart, preparation, and resilience of this organization. We look forward to gathering downtown with fans to celebrate a moment that will be remembered long after the banners are raised.”

The celebration continued in downtown Seattle on Wednesday, Feb. 11, with an estimated 1 million fans in attendance for the Seahawks’ World Champions Parade (according to KING 5 news) following their Super Bowl LX victory. It began with a trophy celebration at Lumen Field before the parade traveled along 4th Avenue through the heart of the city, with the fans turning out to cheer on the team and show their pride.

The Seahawks Super Bowl LX win was more than just a championship – it was a moment that brought the city together. The massive parade in downtown Seattle brought so much excitement. As fans celebrated in the streets, it was clear this season would be remembered not only for the final score, but for the hard work, teamwork, and energy that defined the Seahawks 2025 football season.
