The Highline women’s volleyball team captured a great victory on Wednesday Oct. 8, ending with a score of 3-0, bringing energy and momentum into their next match, taking place on Friday. After a hard-fought battle, the Thunderbirds came out on top and set the tone for their next game.
This win is particularly meaningful given how the team has been navigating adversity. Highline’s roster is one of the youngest in the NWAC, featuring 10 freshmen and just two sophomores.

Captain and sophomore Nevaeh Seuteni expands on the strengths of the team saying, “My biggest strength on the court is my communication. I make it a priority to keep everyone connected, whether that’s calling out plays, encouraging teammates, or keeping our energy up.”
The squad has shown resilience and flashes of strong play as they continue to grow and add another win. The Thunderbirds are now at a 13-9 standing.
Seuteni continues, “Strong communication builds trust and keeps us in sync, especially during heated moments. It’s something I take pride in because it helps the entire team perform at a higher level.”
“When I’m under pressure, I look to my teammates on and off the court. They help me see the shots I have open and reassure me that everything is going to be fine,” said Seuteni. “Their support keeps me calm and focused, and it reminds me that I don’t have to carry the game alone. We trust each other, and that trust helps us stay composed and play our best in tough moments.”
In Wednesday’s victory over Green River and this past Friday’s triumph, both games had a matching score of 3-0. The T-Birds also tallied a win over Tacoma Community College, with players like Emilia Linden recording eight kills and Kylle Harris also securing eight kills against TCC, if the team can replicate this poise and aggression, fans should expect this at every game. The T-Birds are showing signs of real strength.
Come out, support the team, and let’s fill the stands for the Thunderbirds next match on Friday Oct. 17!
