In the Thunderbirds men’s basketball season home debut, they faced a thrilling matchup against Shoreline Community College and walked away with a comeback win at the Thunderdome.
Highline had a slow start to the offense, closely trailing behind Shoreline to send the Thunderbirds to the locker room at halftime with a score of 33-31.
Picking up the offense in the second half, Highline was able to make a comeback, ending the night with a 83-72 win.
Sophomores Kayden Lamebull-Ingram and Keaine Silimon led the first half, putting up eight points apiece for Highline.
Finishing out the second half, freshmen Avery Morgan and Jackson Owens helped out Highline, scoring 16 combined points, and contributing to the team’s 90% free throw percentage in the second half.
Standout player Silimon led the scoreboard for the night, picking up 24 points overall.
Though this was a close matchup for Highline, they were able to leave everything out on the court, and show that they are set to be an exciting team in this upcoming season.
Spectator Dani Carlisle said, “Highline looks confident on the court, they have truly shown that they can be a competitor this season.”
Highline is set out to play the Seattle Mountaineers on Thursday, Dec. 5, at home. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
