How much gore can a person handle in one sitting? Movie-goers were put to the test as “Terrifier 3” hit the theaters this fall.

People are preparing for the third movie in the Terrifier series. This movie included warning signs to the audience before walking in as well as vomit bags as some scenes got way too graphic and hard to watch. This may seem like an overreaction, but the resounding feedback for the film highlights just how shocked most audiences have been, even sparking censorship among some cultures.

For instance, France has banned the movie from being watched by minors, likely because the first scene has people walking out as Art the clown begins by murdering a child and her family while dressed up as Santa Claus.

Damien Leone, the creator of “Terrifier” reportedly turned down offers by major production companies that wanted to be a part of the movie as he knew they would want to tone down the gore and he was not interested. His instinct may have been proven correct, despite some negative reactions to the gruesome content in the series.

The explicit nature of the film hasn’t been a total detraction though as “Terrifier 3” is currently topping all new movies including “Joker: Folie a Deux”, another clown movie in the box office making over $18 million debut.

The Thunderword checked with a local movie-goer to see what he thought of the third film in the cult horror series. Yesi Martniez, a student reported that “[He did] not recommend this to anyone who is scared of the dark.”

In “Terrifier 3”, we actually started to get more information on the actual main character Art the clown, as in the first movie we knew him as just a crazy serial killer but through the second movie he got borderline belligerent and caught the attention of a demon who granted him everlasting life.

“Terrifier 3” has divided and shocked audiences worldwide, so it appears that the ultimate deciding factor is your taste in movies. What about you? Would you buy a ticket, or will you stay home and keep the lights on this Halloween?
