“The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady” (January 2023, Diomedéa) is an anime about a princess who can’t use magic and her genius assistant who is helping advance magicology.

This show follows a magicless princess by the name of Anisphia Wynn Palettia (voiced by Sayaka Senbongi) working on her shortcomings by making magic tools for an assortment of purposes. It also focuses on the other female lead, Euphyllia Magenta (Manaka Iwami), who was found by Anis when her engagement was annulled by the prince. These two work together for their own interests, like the pursuit of magic and finding purpose after everything has been lost.
A show’s narrative is imperative to a final product, without a narrative a show is exactly like a dream, sporadic. However, this show uses a narrative and spontaneous nature to enhance the show from just another fantasy reincarnation to something more like going through the throws of being a teenager.
The way this show describes the characters is impeccable, the amount of depth feels natural to have for a character. There were always underlying reasons to why someone made an action, even if it was just because of their rambunctious nature.
The character designs are very aesthetically pleasing, giving enough detail to make every style unique but not too cluttered. Like with Anis’ outfit, it has a sense of freedom, with how the air breezes through it while she flies past on her broom, and even holsters on her thighs for her mana blades.
As for music, it has a very dreamy sound to it. This dreaminess fits with the feel of the show, given it’s set in a fantasy. There are a few notable moments where the music can emphasize a situation perfectly, like when cutting out at something unexpected or going from high tensions to bursting out in tears.
While the show is very well made, there are definitely some glaring flaws.
During one of the first episodes, the animators must have made a mistake somewhere because the lower half of a face was cut off during a closeup.
The pacing of the show, while not all over the place, felt rather rushed at some points, like someone could tell the director cut some points from the source material to save on time or to fit the runtime of an episode.
Overall, the show is rather pleasant, funny, and heartwarming. The growth between Anis and Euphie was truly tear jerking, but that’s for the viewer to learn if they want to watch this revolutionary show. If not, then that’s their loss.
