Highline women’s golf finished sixth at the Grays Harbor Invitational.
The Lady T-Birds compete in the NWAC League match-up next week.
At the Grays Harbor County Club, seven NWAC teams including Highline competed despite the unfortunate weather. They faced wind, rain throughout and even snow on the second day of the tournament. Playing in the cold is difficult, but there is no choice, said Highline Head Coach Steve Turcotte.

Bellevue took first in both the men and women’s tournaments. The Lady Bulldogs had a team score of 491 and Bellevue’s Sarah Lawrence was the medalist for the women with a score of 148 (+4) .
Brooklyn Grant was Highline’s top scorer, placing 14th with two birdies in the second round and a total score of 177 (+33). Ashlynn Verhaaren placed 28th, Faylisa Valle placed 30th, and Paige Unke placed 32nd.
The Lady T-Birds hit consistently in their short game and putting. But they left a lot of strokes on the green and this is something they’re working on, said Coach Turcotte.
“Ball striking has been improving along with getting off the tee and minimizing ball trouble,” he said.
This Sunday and Monday, Highline will walk the greens against all NWAC teams in the Bellevue Women’s Invitational.
