After some health complications and a stay in the ICU, Highline President Dr. John Mosby is making a good recovery.
On May 3, an email was sent out campuswide from the Highline College Executive Cabinet regarding Dr. Mosby’s health.
“Due to some complications that occurred this weekend in relation to his diabetes, Dr. Mosby is currently receiving medical treatment,” the email said.
He was later sent to the ICU, an update email said.
Another email sent out on May 18, said that Dr. Mosby was set to leave the ICU and return home sometime that week.
Since Dr. Mosby’s absence from campus, Vice President Michael Pham has been serving as acting president in his absence.
“Highline’s executive leadership team is in regular communication with Dr. Mosby,” said Danielle Slota, director for the office of the president. “During his absence, the Highline College Board of Trustees has appointed Vice President Michael Pham to serve as acting president through June 27, 2021.”
However, Dr. Mosby’s health is certainly improving, Slota said.
“Dr. Mosby is doing quite well,” she said. “His health continues to improve, and he is scheduled to return home this week, where he will continue to focus his energy on his health and wellness.”
He’s set to return to work toward the end of July, and will still be involved with commencement.
“Dr. Mosby is scheduled [to] return on June 28, 2021,” Slota said. “Never fear, despite his absence he is planning to participate in commencement activities.”
