Academic Achievement Scholarships available

Editor The Thunderword Nov 19, 2020

The deadline to apply for the Winter Quarter Academic Achievement Awards is Nov. 30 by 5:30 p.m.

The Achievement Awards offer full tuition for one quarter, up to 15 credits. Last year more than $12,000 was awarded. International and Running Start students are not eligible to apply.

College officials are hoping to get more applications for next quarter. In fall, fewer than 60 students applied, one of the smallest pools of applicants ever.

“This winter we are hoping to increase the submission turnout,” said Rickitia Reid, program manager for Professional/Techncial education. “The more submissions we get, the more awards can be given away.”

Reid said the application process is not difficult.

“All you have to do is tell us who you are and write about why you should be one of the finalists,” she said. “You can see the full description on Highline’s website for further details.”
