Highline men's basketball aiming for redemption in the 2023-2024 season

As the echoes of last year’s basketball season at Highline faded away, the men’s basketball team found themselves in a challenging position. The 2022-2023 season left much to be desired as they fell short of reaching the playoffs, only managing to secure three victories throughout the entire season.

Despite the setbacks, the team remained resilient, looking forward to the upcoming 2023-2024 season as an opportunity for redemption and a fresh start under the guidance of their head coach, Ché Dawson.

Everything feels strange’ -- unusual springtime season for basketball starts April 2

Highline’s men’s basketball team, in any normal year, would be gearing up for the playoffs around this time of year. Everyone is well aware by now that this is not a normal year.

Due to delays caused by the ongoing public health crisis, the basketball team will play the first game of their regular season in the springtime, on April 2 at Centralia.

Fall sports will get a chance to play in winter, spring

Highline’s fall sports teams may be back in action as early as Jan. 2, 2021, NWAC officials say.

The Northwest Athletic Conference, of which Highline is a part, has pushed all sports ahead to winter and spring as they attempt to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The future is bright for T-Bird men’s basketball after a successful recruiting season

After guiding the T-Bird men’s basketball team this past season to a 7-7 record in league play which culminated in an NWAC playoff berth, Head Coach Che Dawson thinks his team can build off last season and be even better this year.

With that said, Coach Dawson is very optimistic about the recruits that he has been able to bring into the program so far.
