The Veterans Office is now much more spacious than ever.

Last time the Thunderword checked in with Highline College’s own Veterans Services Office, Kendall Evans, who is at the helm, was eagerly awaiting a new and improved room for student veterans to congregate at their leisure. Well, that day has come!

The new location of the Veterans Office is in the unmarked room 111 of Building 23, on the ground floor of the west side.

Evans and his student veteran staff want to spread the word that Building 23, room 111, boasts free coffee, snacks, a TV, and computers for those wanting to get ahead in class while they take a load off.

This far more spacious improvement to the old room was initially announced in the latter half of 2023, so Evans’s team has been looking forward to this for some time now.

“The vets here deserve to have a spot to come relax and have some fun,” said Evans “Everyone should drop by to come say hi and make sure they have all the information because so many resources are afforded to them.”

Much like the message conveyed to the Thunderword last quarter, Evans made a point to encourage vets to come check out the office in between classes and say hello. The Veterans Office also sends out frequent emails to inform students of a swath of activities and opportunities, so don’t miss out!

While things are clearly improving, veterans can still rely on a consistent fortress for camaraderie. The Veterans Services staff are ecstatic for you to come and see it for yourself.
