Highline men’s basketball splits games during thrilling weekend on the court

The Highline College men’s basketball had an eventful weekend with two intense games where the team showcased their skills. Matching up against Shoreline, the team secured a victory, yet in another, against Edmonds, they faced a close defeat.

In the first matchup against Shoreline on Nov. 29, Highline emerged victorious with a final score of 85-72. The team’s performance was commendable, particularly in the first and second quarters, where they outscored Shoreline. Bradley Graham, a sophomore from Federal Way, once again led the scoring with an impressive 21 points. 

The starting lineup featured Nick Robertson, Cooper Aitken, Keaine Silimon, Bradley Graham, and Isaiah Vargas. Notably, Amari Jackson, a sophomore from Tacoma, made valuable contributions with 9 points and 6 rebounds coming off the bench. 

The second game against Edmonds, on Nov. 30,  proved to be a nail-biter – ending with a close score of 87-83 in favor of Edmonds. Despite the loss, the Highline team fought hard, with Graham once again leading in scoring with 18 points. Rylan Donovan, a freshman from Buckley, stood out with an impressive 25 points and 9 rebounds.

The starting lineup included Nick Robertson, Cooper Aitken, Keaine Silimon, Bradley Graham, and Isaiah Vargas. Amari Jackson and Rylan Donovan, coming off the bench, played crucial roles in keeping the team competitive.

Donovan’s exceptional performance in this game deserves special mention, as he contributed significantly on both ends of the court. 

Overall, the highline college men’s basketball team showcased determination and teamwork in both games. Despite the challenges faced in the second game, the men displayed a commendable work ethic, and Donovan’s standout performance kept the team in contention.  

As the season progresses, the team’s hard work and dedication promises an exciting journey for Highline College basketball enthusiasts. For supporters who’d like to attend the upcoming game between the Thunderbirds and the Walla Walla Warriors, be sure to catch them live at Bellevue college at 5 p.m. on Dec. 8.
