The most notable player was Anaiya Lewis, who consistently contributed to the team’s offense, scoring eight points.

In their latest scrimmage against Skagit Valley, Highline faced another setback with a final score of 80-41. Skagit Valley’s strong performance proved challenging for the new-look Highline team. The players showcased resilience, and despite the outcome, the scrimmage provided valuable insights for the coaching staff.

The most notable player again was Jesselle Victo Castillo, who displayed scoring ability with seven points.

The Highline women’s basketball team is undergoing a significant transition, with the majority of the roster comprised of new players. Solana Jackson and Sarah Gatluak are the only sophomores, providing crucial experience and leadership.

Despite the early challenges and the adjustment period for the new team members, Highline remains optimistic about the upcoming season. The scrimmages have offered valuable insights for the coaching staff, who are working to address areas that need improvement.

The team is facing adversity with five players currently sidelined due to injuries, ruling them out for the entire season. Overcoming these challenges will require a collective effort from the entire squad.

Highline’s next challenge is an away game against Portland on Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. This game provides an opportunity for the team to apply the lessons learned from the preseason scrimmages and showcase their growth as they approach the official start of the NWAC season.

As the season unfolds, fans can anticipate witnessing the resilience and teamwork of the Highline women’s basketball team.
