Highline’s softball team suffers consecutive losses to Everett College

In a disappointing doubleheader held at their home field, the Highline softball team faced a tough challenge against the formidable Everett College team. Despite their best efforts, Highline fell short in both games, with scores of 20-0 in the first game and 8-0 in the second game.

The first game saw an impressive offensive display from Everett College. Leiloa Bustamante, Savanna Ah Mook Sang-Frank, Jordyn Lono, Isabelle Hansen, Kayla Tuaoa, Ivane Aholelei, Madison German, Avery Olson, and Alli Wilson showcased their skills at the plate, contributing to a total of 18 hits and 20 runs for Everett.

Hansen had a standout performance, hitting two home runs and driving in six runs, while Olson also hit two home runs and drove in three runs. Aholelei, German, and Wilson also hit home runs, adding to Everett’s commanding lead.

Highline struggled to find their footing in the first game, only managing one hit and failing to score any runs. Jazlyn Furuya, Trinity Marion, Corrina Cunningham, Abigail Wilkins, Haeley Diehl, Eeron Wong, Daisylyn Laulup, Oriana Lahaina, and Samantha Johnson fought hard but couldn’t break through Everett’s strong defense.

Trinity Marion pitched for Highline while facing a challenging lineup. And ultimately, Highline surrendered 20 runs.

In the second game, Highline continued to face difficulties against Everett’s pitching and defense. Despite their efforts, Highline failed to score any runs again, mustering only three hits throughout the game.

Trinity Marion, Corrina Cunningham, and Haeley Diehl were among the few players who managed hits for Highline. However, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

Everett College maintained their momentum throughout the second game. Leiloa Bustamante, Savanna Ah Mook Sang-Frank, Jordyn Lono, Kayla Tuaoa, Ivane Aholelei, Madison German, Avery Olson, and Alli Wilson contributed to Everett’s seven hits and seven runs in the game. Bustamante hit a triple, while Lono and Aholelei added home runs to their impressive performance.

Pitchers Serina Penrod and Morgan Epperson displayed exceptional skills for Everett College, effectively shutting down Highline’s offense and preventing them from gaining any momentum. Highline pitchers, including Corrina Cunningham and Jazlyn Furuya, struggled to contain Everett’s powerful lineup.

It was a disappointing day for the team. There were no comments from the team, including the coach, regarding the outcome. Despite the losses, the Highline softball team showed resilience and sportsmanship throughout the doubleheader, exemplifying their commitment to the game.
