Highline students that have expenses related to COVID-19 qualify for the COVID-19 financial relief fund for those who struggle to have enough money to pay off rent, food, tuition, books, or child care.
Each student who qualifies to receive money from this fund will receive a maximum of $1,000 to cover their expenses and educational needs. Eligible students have received an email with the link to the application.
Students are eligible if they were enrolled for the 2023 winter quarter, demonstrated financial needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, plan on enrolling in the 2023 spring quarter, are an undocumented student, are in the Running Start Program, or are an international student.
Only some will be approved to receive these funds. The college will prioritize those who did not receive money from the Highline College Emergency fund during the 2022 fall quarter and 2023 winter quarter, students that are currently in debt, and those who identified at least one of the financial needs and faced challenges due to COVID-19 disruptions.
For those having a hard time filling out the application, application help sessions will be held in room 151 of Building 6. These sessions will be available until Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and will reopen from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
By Feb. 17, 2023 you will be notified that your application has been approved and finalized to get your funds. If you have not received an email letting you know that your application has been approved, it is still in process of consideration, and will receive notification letting you know when it has been approved.
