For students graduating this year, there’s an opportunity to be a student speaker at a virtual ceremony.
The Associated Students of Highline College (ASHC) said they’re looking for students who will give an influential speech at this ceremony representing as the student commencement speaker.
Not only that, there are two other opportunities for speakers in this ceremony.
The ASHC team is looking for a student who identifies as Indiengous/Native American and who would like to talk about the acknowledgement of land on which the college sits.
The ceremony will also have a global language welcome. Students who speak languages other than English are encouraged to record a welcome in their language for this ceremony.
If you are graduating, applications to be commencement speaker are due May 2 at 8 a.m., and even if you aren’t graduating, you can recommend people you know who are graduating. Interviews for applicants will be May 3-5.
If you are interested in the global language welcome, email commencement@highline.edu for the Google form that needs to be filled out.
