Softball bows out of the 2024 season for an official rebuild

Zaith Mavesere Staff Reporter Apr 04, 2024

The Highline softball team has had to end their season premature of their season’s commitments this spring. The team has been forced to withdraw from participating in the NWAC softball season.

The most notable reason was the concern that there were players who decided to withdraw from the team as the season had already begun.

The withdrawal from participating was due to reasons that have not been disclosed on the part of the players. The difficulty in reaching a mutual agreement between players and the management to find a solution that could have saved the season led to the season being canceled altogether.

Many sporting organizations experience problems and internal conflicts. During these difficult times, all supporters and stakeholders are urged to remain patient and in solidarity with the leaders and directors of the softball program.

It is difficult to forecast abrupt withdrawals for whatever the reason may be. This news has caught all involved by surprise. As the Thunderbirds faithful, we must trust the directors of the program to lead us through this difficult time.

We understand that it is not an easy decision to cancel a whole season. On the bright side, this bump in the road allows for the directors to go back to the drawing board and find out where the outcome we are faced with could have been prevented.

Commendations are in order for the players who managed to remain and ride out the storms of uncertainty which they have been faced with. There is also support the players who represented the badge but decided to withdraw. Regardless of their reasons, we must also support and respect their decisions to part ways with the team.

We trust that these times are a long awaited call to a change that will bring Thunderbirds softball back to former glory.
