As fall sports come to an end at Highline, winter sports are just around the corner. A fan favorite, men’s basketball, returns to the court in less than two weeks for what will hopefully prove to be a thrilling season.
The 2023-24 season ended with an overall 15-14 record (6-8 in conference play) and landed fifth overall in the NWAC West Region standings. Building on their momentum from last year, the team is seeking to add even more success to the season this year.
Highline returns to the season with a solid core, having a standout group of sophomores. They stand as a balanced team, with eight freshmen and eight sophomores.
Keep an eye out for standout players sophomore Rylan Donovan who tallied an average of 12.8 points per game last season and sophomore Isaiah Vargas (13.1 ppg). Both team leaders propelled Highline’s success last season and stand to impact this year’s standings as well.
“Highline Basketball is on a mission. Come support and let’s win a championship!” said Donovan when asked about the 2024-25 season.
The T-birds played their first scrimmage of the season Oct. 17, against Edmonds CC, with no further information available. Their final scrimmage is set for Thursday, Nov. 14 at home against the Seattle Mountaineers at 7 p.m.
The team will play their first regular season at Wenatchee Valley College on Tuesday Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. While their first home match will be Nov. 25th vs. Shoreline, at 6 p.m.
We are looking forward to this season, and wish the men’s basketball team the best! Go T-birds!
