“I have always been a musician and artist since I was a child. I would make up songs as young as four or five that I can remember,” she said.
But it was not until recently that Elizza Beth said she wanted to take her music to the next level.
“I started releasing music in 2014, and decided to take it seriously as a career and get refocused in 2020,” she said.
Her newest album speaks on the concept of love and the journey of flourishing as an individual, despite the challenges along the way, Elizza Beth said.
“‘UNDERCOVER LOVERGIRL’ is a project about growth and healing through the lens of someone who has had to protect themselves and put guards up – but is a lover at heart,” she said. “The album touches on self-forgiveness, honesty, and accountability. It sends the message that everyone is worthy of love in all forms, no matter what your past looks like, as long as you’re taking tangible steps to be better. We all deserve it.”
No favorite songs around here, Elizza Beth said, but there was one song she said she found comfort and reassured her as an artist while creating “UNDERCOVER LOVERGIRL.”
“I don’t have a favorite – that’s like asking who my favorite child is, haha. But I will say I have a very special place in my heart for ‘BEAMING.’ First, it was really exciting for me to write it,” she said. “There were so many moments through writing, recording, and mixing that I had to really trust the process and solidify that belief in myself. I also haven’t made a lot of sexier songs; this one is about lust and attraction and carnal desire – it’s sexy.”
As far as designing the album, Elizza Beth said there were many obstacles to tackle along the way that stemmed from self-doubt, but she found certainty in introspection and realness within herself.
“Personal doubt and insecurity can definitely get in the way, especially if you are pursuing a career in any artistic field,” she said. “I’ve recently realized that confidence grows when you *do the thing*. Not in a ‘fake it till you make it’ way, but in the way that as you do more things in line with where you want to go, you show yourself exactly what you are capable of – even if you fail. And that’s exciting.”
So far, Elizza Beth said she has already accomplished huge milestones in her career and continues to do so in her recent album release show in downtown Seattle.
“I’ve done so much cool stuff. Just this past year I’ve been local support opening for Mariah the Scientist and CupcakKe, been featured and supported by KEXP, and for my release show I packed out one of the new Crocodile venues and had a super successful event.”
Elizza Beth also said she wants to acknowledge those wins as they are important to her personal development as an artist.
“I’m proud of myself for every little accomplishment I make, and excited for what’s coming,” she said. “It’s so easy to glaze over our wins because we are so focused on what’s next, or bigger, or better, that we don’t take the time to stop and acknowledge what we’ve done. I’m not interested in doing that. I plan to celebrate it all.”
Her inspiration for creating music is rooted in her personal experiences as she wants to set the tone of authenticity, Elizza Beth said.
“My life. I write what I know, and I know myself. My music is genuine and honest and raw and vulnerable. Which means I have to go deep into myself and pull from the well that is my own memories, emotions, and experiences. I am my own muse.”
Performing at festivals and working alongside other artists are just some of the activities Elizza Beth said she will be doing in a couple of years from now.
“Around the world. I am planning a tour this year, West Coast to start. I plan to play some major festivals eventually as well, like Bumbershoot, SXSW. I want to play the East Coast as well. In a few years I will be in attendance at the Grammys, working with other talented peers, and traveling the world as a successful musician,” she said.
