Minecraft: Oh, these caves are so lush!

Minecraft updates promise more options for players

  Feb 25, 2021

The Minecraft update coming out in the Spring or Summer of 2021 will be big with Mojang Studios adding new items, animals, and biomes to spice up gameplay.

Minecraft is a sandbox game produced and developed by Mojang Studios that can be played solo or with friends. Sandbox games allow players to collect materials, build, and craft objects and structures in order to accomplish tasks.

Even though the game has been out since 2011, a large community is still playing, with 126 million active users today.

Minecraft is available on many different devices such as Windows pcs and Mac OS, mobile devices, Xbox, etc. The price varies depending on the device being used.

Minecraft’s various materials come in cubes, or blocks, which the player can use to make whatever they might need.

The game has two modes; creative mode is where you have access to all the blocks to build whatever you want, really just let your imagination go wild.

“Minecraft is a place where you can let your imagination build your own world,” said Jackson Chang, a local high school student.

The other is a survival mode where you can explore the world, make a home, and collect items. The end goal of survival mode is to win the battle against the Ender Dragon.

There will be enemies that attack you at night; beware the skeleton that shoots arrows and the creepers that blow you up.

Enemies are for real. You can die (in the game). You can come back to life though, or respawn in gaming terms, but you’ll lose your entire inventory.

Make sure to set up a spawn point with a bed so you can respawn nearby instead of at the beginning point where you first started. Nearby spawn points will allow you to get back to where you died to get your inventory back before it disappears in five or so minutes.

In survival mode, you’ll need to craft things out of wood, stone, and ores in order to get tools and armor. Tools will allow for faster material gathering; armor will give you protection against enemies.

If you find yourself running low on health or stamina, eat some food. You can find berry bushes in some forests or you can kill some cows and sheeps for beef and mutton. You might want to cook the meat in a furnace with some coal first.

In the new update, goats will come to the game and will provide a new source of food and milk if you find yourself stranded on a mountain.

The axolotl, a cute salamander liked by many, will be added as a pet that will follow you if you are holding a treat for it. The axolotl will come in handy when you are in the water surrounded by enemies.

Items and blocks, such as amethyst and copper, are also being added among a few other blocks. These items will add fun things to craft to decorate your home.

Caves, a place where you can find things you need but might also face enemies, will have more pizazz to them. Mojang Studios will be adding cave biomes, little places unique to themselves.

The new Lush Caves will be full of plant life that you’ll only find in those caves, for example, the glowberry. The berries will provide another source of food as well as light if planted correctly.

Directly above the Lush Caves will be patches of Azalea trees. This tree will provide a new kind of leaves to decorate the exterior of homes.

The Deep Dark biome will spawn a new enemy called the warden, who is blind, can feel vibrations, and is very strong. It has been advised to not go near it without the proper armor.

The new update will also be improving the mining system so you won’t have to spend multiple hours to find diamonds, one of the rarer and stronger ores in the game. You can find a complete list of the update’s additions here https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/1.17_-_Caves_and_Cliffs#:~:text=1.17%2C%20the%20first%20release%20of,Summer%20or%20Spring%20of%202021.
