Student leadership jobs available for fall

Karyn L. Sofia Staff Reporter May 05

Two student leadership organizations want to hire more than two dozen student workers for the coming school year

“What’s really nice about these student leader positions is you don’t have to have any prior experience because we understand leadership is going to be defined differently,” said Edwina Fui, adviser for Inter-Cultural Center Inclusive Excellence, “depending on the student.”

“As long as you have a willingness to learn and want to develop in your own journey,” Fui said.

“It’s been the greatest job I’ve ever had,” said Tessa Hunt, a current peer facilitator for the inter-cultural center. “Working with the center and with the ICC has really been a lot better for me personally to grow and understand more social aspects.”

Together the Inter-Cultural Center & Inclusive Excellence and the Center for Leadership & Service share an office space commonly referred to as The Center.

“We work as a team and I think that’s something I’ve lacked a lot of in my life, that’s definitely something I didn’t expect to happen,” Hunt said.

“When I first started this position, Edwina encouraged me to think of things that I would like to have an event of my own. What [topics] I want to address. What I think would be important for the ICC [Inter-cultural center] to discuss,” said Hunt.

Applicants can apply online by May 6 at the Center for Leadership & Service web page, https://cls.highline.edu/jobs/

“What’s great about the applications too is it’s only one application for all positions,” said leadership adviser Geomarc Panelo, who oversees the peer mentorship program.

Help with the application process is available on their website. Step by step instruction as well as tips and trick to develop a resume are also offered.

All team advisers are available to help anytime until the deadline if students want to know more.
