Open house seeking eligible bachelors

Severiano Garcia Staff Reporter May 26, 2022

Highline is hosting an open house to help inform students about their options in continuing their education.

The Bachelor of Applied Science Program’s open house is happening Thursday, May 26, from 5:30 until 7 p.m. and will be a hybrid event, meaning it will be both in person and online via zoom.

“All seven of our BAS programs will be represented at the open house,” said Dr. Tanya Powers, associate dean for bachelor of applied science and workforce pathways.

The seven bachelor of applied science degrees that Highline offers are: cybersecurity and forensics, early childhood education, elementary education, global trade and logistics, integrated design, respiratory care, and youth development.

“We are particularly excited to have a panel of BAS students share about their experiences and our BAS faculty leads will share about our degree offerings,” Dr. Powers said.

“Faculty leads for the programs are the best source of information for advising and to learn about curriculum or programs. Information is also on our BAS open house web site for who their faculty leads are,” she said.

According to the open house website, the student panel will happen from 5:50-6:10 p.m.

“In addition, we will have [people from] Financial Aid share about funding. BAS admissions will also be reviewed,” she said.

The financial aid information will be presented from 6:20-6:35 p.m.

The general information segment of the open house will include details about costs, class size, locations and internships.

“Any student who is interested in earning a BAS at Highline College is welcome,” said Dr. Powers.

“We are currently accepting applications for the 2022-2023 year including this summer quarter. We have waived the BAS admissions fee for this upcoming academic year,” she said.

Students interested in attending either the in person or online bachelor’s degree open house should apply via their website: https://www.highline.edu/bas-open-house/
