One lane of southbound I-5 will be closed overnight starting May 3. The closure will take place between Kent Des Moines Road and South 272nd Street. 

The lane will close 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. each day, first from May 3 to May 6, and later from May 10 to May 13. All other lanes will remain open. 

During these hours, crews will conduct geotechnical exploration as part of Sound Transit’s Federal Way Link Extension project. The extended light rail is expected to open in 2024. More information on the Link Extension project can be found at www.soundtransit.org/fwlink.
